These are the results for the 1996 edition of the Paris–Roubaix cycling classic, in which Johan Museeuw won his first Paris-Roubaix. Mapei-GB totally dominated the race and three riders of this team arrived together to the velodrome in Roubaix.
Patrick Lefevere, Mapei-GB directeur sportif, got the order by car phone that Johan Museeuw must win from the Italian office of Mapei’s managing director, Giorgio Squinzi.[1]
This edition had the fastest average speed (43.31 km/h) since Paris–Roubaix moved to the more difficult easterly route in 1968.[2]
